How Do You Enhance Your Employee Experience?

By Eva Lim Sheau Lee

“Employees are the most important assets in any company. So, it is important for us to understand employee experience at the micro level,” says Ian Rosli, People Manager at Stampede Solutions. When you understand what your employees experience daily at the workplace, you will know what is important to them. From there, you will be able to identify the right initiatives to create a positive impact.

We are honoured to have Ian as our special guest speaker in the third episode of “Ask the Expert Series” to share how Stampede plans to enhance its employee experience.

Ian strongly believes that a great employee experience improves employee engagement and that explains Stampede's enthusiasm for actively pursuing these initiatives. This year, Stampede has planned and implemented various campaigns to boost its employee experience around three core pillars: company culture, working arrangements and technology.

He further explained that Stampede consistently comes up with initiatives such as town halls, newsletters, festive events, bi-weekly sports nights and many more. For instance, they invited service providers to pamper the mothers at Stampede in conjunction with Mother’s Day.

He believes such initiatives will add value to their employees’ well-being and make their journey with Stampede more meaningful. Most importantly, it allows them to promote one of their company’s core values: “Stampede is family”. It is beautiful to see that Stampede is clear on what type of experience they intend to create for their employees and is committed to creating moments that matter to them.

Besides culture enhancement initiatives, Ian mentioned that Stampede had changed their employees' working arrangements, in which they are only required to be in the office one day a week. However, employees can be in the office on other days if they wish to. Ian believes that such a hybrid working model provides employees with greater flexibility and builds team trust. Employees are not bound to work at the office, as their employees are able to maintain their productivity while working from home.

As Stampede firmly believes that open communication helps improve employee experience, they leveraged technology by launching an employee engagement app in April. Ian was excited to share that the Budaya app’s daily check-in and other gamified features help drive employee engagement, promote communication and provide greater visibility of their happiness. Through the app, Stampede can now see the Employee Net Promoter Score (ENPS), which measures how employees feel about their companies, and which areas need the most attention. Ian also mentioned that the Budaya app helps them to tackle problems before they happen, thus impacting employee retention.

Employee experience and engagement are interrelated. Employee engagement is about how employees feel about the company. This can be seen in how connected they are to the company’s mission, whether they are an ambassador or advocate to help amplify the company’s messages, and how far employees are willing to go in helping the company to succeed.

It is the emotional attachment that results from the employee’s experience working in and within the company. For example, the working environment, professional development, and working relationships all contribute to employee experience. Therefore, Ian believes that it is important for them to understand their employee experience at the micro level. With the collected data, using the Budaya solution, they now have the insights to help them nurture excellent employee engagement.
